  • Anatomy of the Physical Structure of Classical Acupoints - Zengtao Wang, M.D., Ph.D.

Anatomy of the Physical Structure of Classical Acupoints - Zengtao Wang, M.D., Ph.D.

    Saturday, March 29, 2025

    Course Description
Acupoints are one of the pillars upon which Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) stands at the pinnacle of the world stage. Scholars from ancient times to the present, both in China and abroad, have conducted in-depth research on them. But what exactly are acupoints? Are they abstract concepts or tangible structures? What is their shape? Is the surface projection of an acupoint a single point, or does it have a defined area with size and shape? What are the anatomical structures of acupoints? Are acupoint locations identical for everyone, or do they vary among individuals? This lecture will focus on addressing these critical questions.

    About the Speaker
Professor Wang is internationally recognized as the pioneer of the concept and series of new techniques for complete thumb and finger reconstruction, earning him the title of the world's No. 1 in thumb reconstruction. He performed the world's first replantation of a severed finger preserved in deep cryogenic conditions and the world's first infant upper arm allograft transplantation surgery. Many of his microsurgical techniques are international firsts. In clinical anatomical microsurgery, he has made numerous groundbreaking discoveries and has published 27 medical monographs, including the Clinical Anotomical Atlas of Microsurgery. In recent years, Professor Wang has applied microsurgical techniques to acupoint anatomy, uncovering the anatomical physical structure of classical acupoints in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM)—a discovery that has attracted widespread attention in the TCM acupuncture community.
